NEW WEBSITE COMING SOON!

"March camp was pretty good. We were able to place a good bit of the opener, many of you are gaining comfort with the dot system, and almost all of you moved with a purpose and rehearsed with a great attitude! As we move forward, it is important that we continue to come to rehearsal with our brains turned on and our bodies ready to work.

Please, please, please understand that I know that all of a sudden, to some of you, I've turned the sky red and the grass orange by turning you loose with dot books instead of drill charts all on top of the wacko concept that you need to trust your own step size and path instead of relying on others' paths and form control. To those few who are uncertain about your ability to do it: Believe me, it will get easier as you move along but only if you trust yourself to make it work. Like a lot of things (first bicycle ride without training wheels, first time off a diving board, learning to drive, et cetera), learning to be comfortable with this system ultimately lies in your own hands and ability. As I said earlier, most of you, almost all of you, are taking your best stab at it and are doing great! It's very important that we all take that plunge, though, okay? biggrin.gif

We need to have everyone at camp again this month so be sure you come ready to work, remind your friends to RSVP, and continue to check the site out for breaking news!"

Camp was another great success. We were able to put many pages of drill on the field and we played throught three of the four 2007 selections.

Special thanks to Mrs. Hornsby and the YMCA.

As always, Revolution would like to thank all the members, staff and volunteers who made the camp such a great success. Revolution is currently seeking to fill the remaining positions in the hornline.

February Camp Complete!

The weekend of February 16-18, brass and percussion members of Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps highlighted the camp with a "show and tell" performance of La Doma (2007 Opener) and the new ballade Danza Del Trigo. The corps spent the weekend as guests at the Calvery Temple Church (Pastor, Del Way) Earnestine Wilson Zimmerman Family Life Center in Kerrville, Texas.

The camp was a great success for Revo. despite many members obligated to remain in San Antonio for TMEA. "This weekend we took great strides to get a great deal done, in the book, on the field and behind the scenes." Said Revo. corps director Wes Roberts. "Many of the staff's goals were exceeded as usual. We are all very pleased with this weekend, all our members worked very, very hard. Also notable, the staff was able to meet with Creigton Bowsher (2007 drill designer) and map out the opener with the exciting realization that we are slated to begin setting drill in March!"

As always, Revolution would like to thank all the members, staff and volunteers who made the camp such a great success. Army All American Bowl Kicks off 2007 Season!

A joint performance group consisting of the RPE Drumline, RIW Guard, and a small group of DBC hornline members, alumni and friends, kicked off the 2007 pregame during the player introductions and during the first half of the Army All American Bowl making the first public appearance this season a huge success.  Many thanks to all that helped make this off-season event so successful and we look forward to other future performances of this nature for the YPA family!

2007 1st round Auditions Completed!

Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps made strides this past weekend hosting it's first ever audition camp down in the South Texas Valley.  More than 30 participants attended the one day event and it was clear those who attended meant business.  The 2007 Audition schedule has gone through adjustments to work around the advent of a Division I corps moving into our back yard, and dates were moved and new regions plotted to ensure the organizations logevity.  With over 120 applicants for 2007 so far, we are excited at the increased talent level the students are showcasing.  We look forward to finalizing all contracts in January at the final Brass and Percussion Audition, and look to complete the other half of the Guard auditions in April after the WGI season concludes.  Stay posted as to the website for all the details for the January camp and to begin RSVP procedures to help the staff plan for the weekend.  Happy Holidays and see you all in the New Year!

2007 Show Production Revealed!

Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps presents the showcasing of three renowned artists of the 1900's. The compositional brilliance of Argentinean composer Alberto Ginastera, the rhythmical genius of Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas, and the revolutionary works of Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla lay the foundation for the 2007 musical production. The basis for the production is visually inspired by one of the most famous Spanish painters of that same era.

Musical Selections will be showcased at the Banquet and 1st camp!

Revolution Announces 2007 Caption Heads!

We are pleased to announce the appointment of the caption heads for the 2007 season. The selection process took a while; however we are very pleased with how complimentary each caption heads philosophy is with the corps mission and the overall goals of the YPA organization.

Carlos Botello will be taking the reins of the percussion. He is currently the assistant band director at South Garland High School in Garland, Texas. Carlos is a Pro-Mark educator artist. Carlos’ performance experience includes Lone Star, Pioneer, Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble along with DCI individual and PASIC competition placements. Welcome back Carlos!

Former Cavalier Gordon Couch is stepping into the visual caption head position for the 2007 season. Mr. Couch is a graduate of the university of Kentucky. For 14 years, Mr. Couch has worked with numerous bands at various levels with many wins to his students and his credit. Currently he is the Director of Music Instruction, Daingerfield-Lone Star Independent School District.

Jeremy Williams, director of bands at Wagoner high school in Oklahoma , will be stepping into the brass caption head position for the 2007 season. Mr. Williams has many years of drum corps experience from being a marching member of the Cavaliers to serving as a brass staff member with Revolution in 2006.

Moses Ramos, 2007 colorguard caption head, has been involved in colorguard since he started his 1st of 4 seasons with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Upon aging out in 2002, Moses joined the Revolution family as part of the winter guard staff and has been with the organization ever since.

We are looking forward to the unique talents and individualism each caption head will bring to the corps. All the caption heads have incredible credentials and they all have past records of tremendous success.

Hornline to make Multi Key Switch!

Heading into the 2007 season Revolution will be playing on new Bb/F horns.

The hornline has won the High Brass trophy twice (2002, 2006) since bursting into DCI Competition in 2001. What makes this accomplishment even more special was that it was done on older G bugles.  Moving forward, we will now be playing on a level field of competition and make our students transition during the summer even easier.  Special thanks go to the Drum Corps Tigers of Texas for making this acquisition possible.

We hope to see a big hornline turnout for what looks to be a very engaging program for the 2007 trip to Pasadena! Auditions will be held Dec 1st - 3rd. Bring a brass friend!

New Corps Director Named!

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of David Wesley Roberts to the DBC as Director for the 2007 Season.    David is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and currently resides in Georgia as Director of Bands for the Telfair County School District but will be relocating to the great state of Texas in 2007.   David has been in and around the Drum Corps activity since aging out of the Santa Clara Vanguard.  His energy and creativeness are right in line with the direction we want for the DBC and brings a fresh new vision for the YPA’s founding program.  “I am looking forward to continuing the traditions of Revolution, while striving to take the corps to the next level.  Revolution will continue to forever impact the lives of young musicians and fans, as well as maintain their outstanding status in the drum corps activity,” States Mr. Roberts.  Welcome to the family David, and welcome to the only active TEXAS BORN, TEXAS PROUD Drum Corps in the Lone Star State.
